We took the vaperetto (water bus) to the nearby island of Murano.
and a magnificent blue glass piece in one of the plazas.
They have an excellent glass museum that featured many examples of antique/vintage glass as well as modern works.
We also visited a glass-making demonstration...
where the glass master made a tall vase…
and a horse.
After wandering the streets and canals and lunch we took another boat to Burano Island. This island is much farther out in the lagoon and is noted for its brightly colored houses (the better to be seen in the fog or after a night too long spent at the local bar).
Chloe and Mary loved the museums. Paul tolerated them. Chloe ended up buying a lace scarf and a lace umbrella.
Chloe drinking from a fountain – you hold the bottom of the spigot to force the water to pop out of a hole in the top of the faucet.
We had dinner on Burano and then took the boat back to Venice...
